About Erica
Hey there! My name is Erica (she/her) and I am a queer therapist working in-person and virtually in Wisconsin, and virtually in Colorado. With 6 years of clinical experience, and over a decade spent working in the mental health field, I center my work around getting to know who my clients are both within and outside of the pain they carry. The work I have committed myself to is for all of the people-pleasing eldest daughters/siblings, the people in the world who feel unimportant, and those who want to heal, grow, and learn to accept who they were always meant to be.
The Under Story
We appreciate what it probably took for you to find yourself on our site, and want you to know you're not alone in what you're going through. In fact, our founding therapist, Erica, has been where you are, contemplating making a huge life shift by talking to a professional. Her journey started with an eating disorder and anxiety that left her feeling this profound sense of "not good enough". Learning to function above the shoulders felt the safest, and she believed that if she just focused on making the people around her happy, that she could finally feel better. But, therapy luckily changed all of that. Through being challenged to be vulnerable, healing and restructuring internal wounds, and ultimately accepting that harsh internal narratives were in fact false, she was able to learn that she is good enough just as she is (and perhaps always has been).
At Understory, we want to help you feel the same.
When we say that we get what you're going through - we get what you're going through. It's the kind of bone-deep, raw, and unfiltered understanding of how we can become so consumed by our pain and the deeply critical perceptions of who we are. So much so that they can feel like the only truth we can accept. But, we’re here to encourage you that you can do this. There is always hope for change, for growth, and for the loving kind of self-acceptance you've always been chasing.
